about

Heartache and heartbreak can quickly summarize most of high school; top it off with a nasty combination of teenage angst and cheap liquor, and you have “Black and White”. The chorus references “Morgan” and, “Jack” as friends. The two represent different types of alcohol, and the ups and downs that tend to come as their baggage. For a while it can be fun, but in the end you have to face up to your darkest thoughts and struggles.

lyrics

Secrets are better told
To no one but the bottles and the graves in the cold
For I have dreamed too much
About love and hope that's far too out of touch

But I'll hope and I'll pray that maybe someday
I'll be a better man but I'll turn to my friends instead

Oh Morgan always told me to be something that I'm not
That more was always better and you should always take a shot
But Jack took me in late, late at night
Said that love lives in color and I drown in black and white

I put a wonderful cover
Smiling to everyone fooling my honest mother
'Cause an empty mind and a broken heart
Leads nowhere but to a god awful start

But I'll hope and I'll pray that maybe someday
I'll be a better man but I'll turn to my friends instead

Oh Morgan always told me to be something that I'm not
That more was always better and you should always take a shot
But Jack took me in late, late at night
Said that love lives in color and I drown in black and white
